The Stillness of Space and Line was inspired by The Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting. I spent years reading and copying the brush strokes as a hands on meditation. Although it was inspired by the classic manual of oriental painting, this book does not teach how to paint or draw. It is more about how to see and experience Stillness.
The Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting was one of the first books ever printed and used wooden block cut outs to show the brush strokes. It also contains amazing insights on painting, brush strokes, and composition.
My style is derived from traditional painters of the 11th century and specifically focuses on the Po-mo (Throw-ink) method as opposed to the more meticulous Gong-bi (Tortured brush, court-style) painting. I also favored the Xieyi style of Chinese painting which uses broad, expressionistic strokes of ink. The Xieyi style literally means "writing the meaning down". The artists were typically scholars or literati whose paintings were created in a single sitting while the artist is focused on expressing the Qi or vital spirit of the work. The brush strokes represent the yang energy while the paper represents the yin.
You can enjoy this book on many levels. It contains interesting black and white images as well as a meditation enhancing experience.
The book is divided into six sections of images, trees, rocks, water, clouds, bamboo, and beyond. The images are for meditation and peace. Follow the flowing lines as they divide and open the space before you. Use the images to relax and transform your current state of mind. Find the stillness you seek just by holding the book and turning the pages.
Find one that speaks to you at this moment. Allow yourself to discover the quiet stillness within each image. Breathe into the lines and inhale from the space that holds the lines. The lines arise from the empty space and remain part of the connection to the presence of the moment.
Switch back and forth between the space and the lines. Shift your awareness. As a visual meditation experience, you will go deeper, faster, and more completely using the Stillness of Space and Line as your Meditation Guide. There are no distractions to the flow of energy. The images are timeless and alive with presence.
How to Write, Edit, Publish and Sell Your Book in Six Weeks
by William Welton
This book is full of ideas, suggestions, and techniques that I actually used to create, edit and sell it. I did the whole thing in about six weeks. It covers time management and motivation as well as the nuts and bolts of organizing and producing the book that you have always wanted to create.
Quantum Energy and Intention
What are Brainwaves?
The brain is made up of billions of cells called neurons, that communicate with each other through electrical signals. With millions of neurons sending signals simultaneously, enormous amounts of electrical activity is produced in the brain. Sensitive medical equipment, such as an EEG, can detect this activity.
The culmination of electrical activity of the brain is referred to as a BrainWave because of its cyclic, "wave-like" pattern.
Common brainwave types and their associated mental states include:
Beta 12Hz - 38Hz Wide awake, the general mental state of most people during the day
SMR (sensorimotor rhythm 12 - 15Hz) Stimulation in
the range can result in relaxed focus and improved
Beta 1 (15 - 20 Hz) - Increased mental abilities, IQ and focus
Beta 2 (20 - 38Hz) - Highly alert, even anxious
Alpha 8Hz - 12Hz Alert while deeply relazed and not processing information. The mental state of early morning or daydreaming with enhanced visualization and receptiveness to suggestion.
Theta 3Hz - 8Hz Light sleep or extreme relaxtion.
A hyper-suggestible state.
Theta 1 (3 - 5 Hz) If suppressed, can improve concentration, ability to focus attention
Theta 2 (5 - 8 Hz) Very relaxed and dreamful sleep, good for mental programming
Delta 0.2Hz - 3Hz Deep, dreamless sleep. Slowest of brainwaves and the most dominant. Your body is healing itself and you do not dream. It is theorized that Delta waves have specific effects on the limbic system, the amygdala and hypothalamus. Delta frequencies appear to "sooth" these neural structures and can be very effective reducing migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic pain and blood pressure.
What is Brainwave Entrainment?
Brainwave Entrainment refers to the brain's electrical
response to rhythmic sensory stimulation, such as sound
In response to this rhythmic stimulus, the brain responds by synchronizing to the same rhythm.
This Frequency Following Response technique can be applied to nearly all mental states, from concentration, creativity, to deep meditation or lucid dreaming.
Combining Musical sound files with the pulsing waveforms stimulates creativity and visualization while using ambient sound files such as rain, wind, ocean waves, or bubbling water aid in relaxation and meditation.Specific Hemisphere's of the Brain can be targeted.
Hemispheric Synchronization refers to a state when
the brainwave patterns of the left and right brain
become similar.Coherence and cerebral synchronization
are a result.
